Today was more about meeting with clients and how to present information to them in an effective way. We had an afternoon shoot with a new model. When we jumped in the van to drive to the shoot, it started to rain and I wasn't really looking forward to it. But, it actually was more interesting to shoot, and the rain added to overall feel of the pictures. Most of the pictures you can't really even tell it was raining. I've included some of my favorite pictures below.
After the shoot, we went over to Mike's house to see his studio. We then stayed into the evening to watch a slideshow of highlights from all the photographers at the workshop. Mike's going to post it on his blog, so check it out in the next day or so.
And then, to top off the day, we played Texas hold em poker with about 12 people. And who would have guessed it... I won the whole thing! It was a really late game and we actually finished up around 2:15am.
The last 4 days have been an amazing experience and I am so thankful that Carolyn bought this for me. I really think it is going to change so many things about how I shoot and really take things up to the next level. I even feel that the pictures that I've taken in the past couple days have been that much better.

DAY 3
Today I had some one on one time with Mike where he reviewed my work and gave me a lot of shooting tips. I cannot say how impressed I am with Mike over the course of the workshop. He really has a genuine interest in teaching other photographers and wanting to help them take their work up to the next level.
In the evening, we went on a night shoot to mix things up a little bit. It was raining, so we decided to go to parking garage so we were partially covered. We had two different modeling couples to work with this time. Here are some of my favorite pictures...

DAY 2
Today was all about marketing. Mike walked us through the approach he's taken over the past 10 years. The shoot in the afternoon was with a bride and groom that had a destination wedding, but wanted to take some pictures in California (they weren't really happy with the pictures from their wedding day, which were taken from another photographer).

Who wants a safari picture?
Everyone has been telling me how much they like the safari pictures I posted a couple days ago. Thanks for all the nice things everyone has said about them. I'm thinking about having some type of contest or referral program where you can choose one of the pictures you like and I will email the high resolution file for you to have (with the understanding that you can't sell it to anyone or forward it without my permission)... I'm going to have to trust everyone on this one since I can't monitor this :). What if i did something like this... as long as you email my website/blog to 10 people you know and copy me on the email, you can have the safari picture of your choosing (keep in mind it's the high resolution file so if you wanted to blow it up to a poster size you could do that). Let me know what everyone thinks about this idea and I'll see if people have an interest in it. If so, then game on!

Google Maps
I've been playing around with a tool on google that allows you to customize maps. I thought it would be interesting to mark all of the places I've been. I've only spent about 30 minutes on this so far and I've only really spent time in the U.S. I hope to catalog all of the places I've been in the world. Man I love google. Click below and you can actually move the map around and see the places I've marked up.

more pictures...
I decided to post some more pictures that I put in the calendar. Looking back at these pictures reminds me of the unbelievable trip we had. If you're thinking about going on a vacation, I highly recommend going on a safari. It will cost a lot, probably double of what your normal vacation would run, but it is well worth it. Enjoy the pictures!
Just finished the 2008 Calendar
I just finished the calendar I mentioned a couple days ago and I submitted the order in iPhoto. I'm impressed how easy apple has made it to order products through their software. They've really done a great job at growing revenue by creating services that customer want. The calendar has a cool collage on the cover, but I decided to make the inside pictures focused on my trip to South Africa. Here's what the month of June looks like, which happens to be one of my favorite photos from the trip.
