Video of Ruby
It's been about 24 hours since we brought Ruby home from the breeder. It was a long night with multiple trips outside, but she's beginning to understand the whole "humans go inside"... "dogs go outside" thing. Here's a video of her playing around the house

Josh Turns 3
It's hard to believe that Joshua (my nephew) turned three today. We got down with some of the coolest 2, 3, and 4 year olds I've ever known. Seriously folks... these are the future Donald Trumps and Madonnas of the world. The party started out by singing from Miss Lindsey, followed by a lunch and cupcakes at Pequods. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the day. I also put together a slideshow right below, click on the image to play the video

Trip to Michigan this weekend
Carolyn and I got back from Michigan a couple hours ago. It was a pretty quick weekend considering we left Saturday morning, and spent about seven hours in the car since we were in the middle of a snowstorm. The reason why we went up to Michigan was that we had four tickets to see the Red Wings. It was the first time that I had ever been to a Red Wings game, so that was pretty exciting. The best part of the game was we received a behind-the-scenes tour of the arena. We literally were shown around the entire arena, it was about a 45 minute tour. We started off by watching some practice before the game, and then we slowly worked our way around the back hallways. Here are a couple of pictures from the evening.
Here's Carolyn with her mom and dad

Here are some guys with some red light helmets on.

This was my favorite picture from the entire weekend. During the tour are we were taken to the room where all of the beer was stored for the entire stadium. There were probably about 30-40 kegs of beer in the refrigerator. There are three guys in this picture whose job it was to stand in front to make sure no one got behind the door. You can see some of the Kegs behind the guy on the left side of the picture. They were starting this thing like it was Fort Knox.

Here's a better look at the Keg room. They said they were getting prepared for a Metallica concert which was coming up

This is the door to the locker room

Here's a shot from behind the goal. We hung out there for about 20 minutes.

the year was...
Alright, this post is going to be a little strange/funny...
So this weekend Carolyn and I are organizing everything in the Kitchen, and we decide to throw away some of our canned food that is expired. I'm thinking that there are probably a couple things in there that were 2 or 3 years old.
So I find about 8-9 cans that are expired... then I find a can that looks really old... and I see a picture of Reggie White on the cover (it's a Campbell's soup can). So I'm thinking this has got to be at least 5 years old. I look for the expire date and here's what I find...

This can has been with me for a long time! Maybe I'll hold onto and it will be a collectors item?

2008 Highlights
It's Sunday evening and Carolyn and I had a pretty low-key day. We went out this morning to run a bunch of errands and then came back in the afternoon to do some cooking. We had a bunch of parties from this past Friday and Saturday. It was great to see everyone. Time sure does fly why when you're having a good time.
Since it's getting close to the end of the year, I thought I would go ahead and put together a quick best of 2008 slideshow. Click here to check out some of my favorite shots from this past year. Also, if you are on Facebook, you can check out the pictures as well.

Recap of Thanksgiving Trip to Naples
So I'm finally back from my Thanksgiving vacation to Naples Florida. We had a great time and we spent an entire week with my parents. Here's a quick list of the activities from this past week, in no particular order...
Playing tennis a couple times
Hanging out by the pool
Going fishing (I caught about six or seven fish altogether)
Making of the annual Apple Strudel
A sunset cruise on a catamaran near Marco Island
Black Friday shopping
Thanksgiving dinner with the family and Gene & Dianne and Gardner
Listening to a couple books on audiotape (I know... that's pretty lazy)
Taking pictures around my parents place
Going to the dog track
Below are a couple of my favorite pictures from the entire week. I've also put together a slide show which contained about 100 pictures. Click here to check out the slideshow.
As I'm writing this blog entry, the sad thing is I'm watching snow pouring down outside of my house. We're supposed to get about 3-6 inches of snow today. This is a pretty drastic change from enjoying weather which was in the 70s the entire week in Naples. It's good to be back in Chicago, but I miss the nice weather and lifestyle down in Naples.
Thanks to my mom and Dad for hosting us for the entire week. Another special shout out to David and Catherine and Joshua who made the trip extra fun. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Have a great week!
